BEST KEPT SECRET OF TEJO GETS FAMOUS

Posted by Christian Callec on dinsdag, juli 31st, 2012

In May 2012, I wrote some lines about what was my most interesting discovery during my last trip to Portugal (as jury member at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2012, Guimarães). I even called it THE BEST KEPT SECRET … Well, it seems that not only internationally, but also locally in the TEJO region, this secret has been discovered.

MARTTA REIS SIMÕES ‘Tejo – Winemaker of the Year’

Martta Reis Simões joined the Quinta da Alorna 9 years ago and is since 2 years in charge of the winemaking department. And now, she was selected as Tejo wine region ‘Winemaker of the Year’. Martta feels honoured by this coveted recognition:

“It is undoubtedly the recognition of the work I started some years ago in this company and in this region. I can’t say it was always easy but, with dedication and personal effort, I’ve been able to overcome the difficulties. I must also mention all those who worked and still are working with me in this great company. Without their professionalism, fellowship and friendship, this award would not make sense”.

This great news however didn’t come alone. This year, QUINTA DA ALORNA wines won not only medals in the Tejo wine contest; they got also four medals in the International Wine Challenge and six at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2012 in Guimarães. From the 10 Great Gold Medals awarded to Portuguese wines during the CMB 2012, not less than 2 were won by Quinta de Alorna! Besides about 30 medals, awards and distinctions won in 2012, Quinta da Alorna also got great reviews in Wine Enthusiast, Decanter and Vinhos.

Melhores cumprimentos
