FANTASTIC SCORE CHILI IN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SAUVIGNON
The very first CONCOURS MONDIAL DU SAUVIGNON was held in Bordeaux (France), one of the historical hearts of the sauvignon blanc grape. Anno 2010, the sauvignon blanc has been traveling all over the world and settled down in many, many countries. The competition was organized by the BORDEAUX and BORDEAUX SUPERIEUR AOP boards and the team of CONCOURS MONDIAL DE BRUXELLES.
Two countries excelled above the rest:
FRANCE: 92 awards out of 306 samples (30.12 %)
CHILE: 21 awards out of only 58 samples (36.23 %!!!).
It seems pretty obvious that the best Chilean sauvignon blanc can compete with any other sauvignon blanc from famous regions.
Sylvia Cava, oenologist, former Asia expert of Pro Chile and American representative of the CONCOURS MONDIAL DE BRUXELLES was really happy and proud with this fantastic results and the tremendous ‘pro ratio’ awards harvest.
Chile won the most awards in the category ‘Unoaked sauvignon blanc >12 Euros’, receiving also the maximum distinction of the jury, the SPECIAL TROPHY, for a wine that I love, and described short ago on my weblog:

In addition to the wine samples submitted for the competition, Chile’s participation in the event also included the support from Pro Chile, the presence of wine writer Eduardo Brethauer as jury member, Sylvia Cava as America representative of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles and a presentation of the Franco/Chilean (to please the French… but actually he is Chilean/French) winemaker Patrick Valette during the World Sauvignon Encounter. Patrick Valette (ex-Château Pavie), is winemaker at Neyen and VIK, the most exciting ‘holistic’ wine project of Chile… see VIK 1, VIK 2, VIK 3, VIK 4 on my welblog.

Hey Christian,
Dank je wel voor de publicatie! Ik neem dus aan dat je het nieuws hebt ontvangen! Wanneer is je volgende bezoek aan Chili. Ik ben in September en Oktober in Europa en tevens neemt Casa Marin deel aan de Chileense Wijnbeurs op 4 oktober in Nederland! Ben je daar?
