CONCOURS MONDIAL 2010: CHILE GOES FOR GOLD!
Right, France is once again the absolute winner of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2010, with 606 medals (401 Silver, 191 Gold and 14 Great Gold Medals) obtained by 2277 samples presented. Surely a great performance, and of course the Spanish did well too, with their second place: 378 medals (225 Silver, 136 Gold and 17 Great Gold) out of 1394 labels presented. With 17 Great Gold medals, Spain is the big winner in quality. The Italian finished third with 228 medals (134 Silver, 89 Gold, and 5 Great Gold) out of 949 labels sent to the tastings. Congratulations to the big European three. But isn’t it a bit easier when you are such a big producing country and can send so much samples for the competition?
FABULOUS SCORE FOR CHILE
Actually, I am much more impressed by CHILE… 320 samples, only 4.6% of the total amount of wine samples, but still 158 medals (80 Silver, 68 Gold and 10 Great Gold)! Good for the fifth place of the world, behind the big three and just below Portugal… 10 Great Gold Medals for Chile, an incredible performance! Chile doubled the amount compared to last year. 17 for Spain (out of 1394 samples), 14 for France (out of 2277 samples) and 10 for Chile, out of 320 samples! 14.5% of the total amount of Great Gold Medals!

And last, but surely not least, one of those wines awarded with a Great Gold Medal was even extra honored with the trophy of BEST WHITE WINE of the CMB 2010!
